A receiver has been given permission by the High Court to seek to have alleged trespassers on a Co Mayo business park site sent to prison for breaching court orders.

Ken Fennell says the move was in response to fears Pope Francis’s visit to Knock could see an increase of trespassers parking caravans at the site.

Mr Fennell, of Deloitte, seeks orders against people who are believed to be members of the Traveller community, who have allegedly taken up residence at the N5 Business Park, Moneen, in Castlebar. He previously obtained court orders directing trespassers to vacate the business park and cease trespassing.

Lawyers for Mr Fennell said the trespass had continued and people were in contempt of court orders. The judge adjourned the matter to next week.
